Team Garcia Cares for Dogs Rescued in June Illegal Marijuana Grow Raid

Leona Valley, CA – Following Congressman Mike Garcia’s (R, CA-25) leadership that resulted in a raid on cartel-linked illegal marijuana growing operations, he was joined by dozens of volunteers today at the Reversed Rescue for a dog rescue work day.

Teaming up with founder Tye Friis at the Leona Valley rescue, Garcia and his team of volunteers spent the day caring for the animals, many of which were taken in after the raid that took down illegal grows across the Antelope Valley. They cleaned kennels, dog parks, and the rescue house, carrying out the necessary tasks to keep the dogs healthy and the rescue running.

“Watching so many dogs rescued from such terrible conditions in these illegal growing operations was heartbreaking,” said Garcia. “Tye has done an incredible job here at the rescue taking in so many of these animals. Our volunteers were determined to join him in making sure they were taken care of, and I am proud of the work we did here today.”

This latest Saturday of Service saw Garcia reunite with a number of the dogs who were taken in after being neglected while living in many of the illegal grows that were spread across the desert. In June, Garcia led the largest drug bust in LASD history, resulting in the rescue of these dogs and the seizure of over $1.2 billion in cartel-linked illegal marijuana.

Garcia and his team have always made charity a priority for his campaign. Throughout the pandemic, Garcia made personal salary donations to local charities while Team Garcia remained focused on community service when the district needed it most. This latest Saturday of Service follows recent food and blood drives in addition to events supporting local veterans and law enforcement officers.
