Momentum builds following all 5 major city mayor’s endorsements
Mike Garcia, former Navy fighter pilot and Republican candidate for CA-25, announced today the endorsement of former State Assemblyman, former GOP Party Chairman and 36-year member of the LA County Board of Supervisors, Mike Antonovich. As Supervisor, Antonovich represented the Fifth District, which spans 2,800 square miles of the Antelope, Santa Clarita, San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys, including 22 cities and 70 unincorporated communities.
Supervisor Antonovich served in the Army National Guard and later in the CA Army State Military Reserve.
“As a veteran, I know a fighter with proven leadership who will fight for a strong defense and fiscal responsibility,” Antonovich said. “Not only does this district need a fighter, but so does this country, especially now.”
“We haven’t taken a seat back from a Democrat in this state since 1998,” said Antonovich, who ran the California Republican Party in 1984, the year of Ronald Reagan’s re-election.
President Ronald Reagan appointed Antonovich to two Presidential Commissions and President George H.W. Bush appointed him to the Fulbright Commission and to the U.S. Delegation to Geneva, Switzerland.
“I couldn’t be more excited…if Mike wins on May 12th, it will release a red shockwave of Republican enthusiasm we haven’t seen since Prop 13 and Ronald Reagan,” Antonovich said. “Mike represents a rebirth of our party.”
After graduating with a Master’s from CA State LA, Antonovich taught in the LA Unified School District and later at Pepperdine University. He began his political career by being elected to serve on the LA Community College District Board of Trustees.
“As an educator, I know that he will serve as an important role-model for our children, especially those who come to this country, like Mike’s family did, to achieve the American Dream,” Antonovich added.
“Mike Antonovich has served this district, this state and this nation with great honor and distinction,” Mike Garcia said. “He is an iconic figure and I could not be more proud to be endorsed by a patriot, an educator, a conservative party leader and someone we know as ‘The Mayor of LA County.'”
