Santa Clarita, CA – Congressman Mike Garcia (R, CA-25) today presented his latest personal monthly donation to Circle of Hope, a non-profit that provides financial, educational and emotional assistance to people battling cancer in the Santa Clarita Valley.

“While the pandemic has affected all of us, those in our community who are fighting cancer are facing unique hardships. In addition to the challenges the rest of us are dealing with, these folks have to worry about not just staying healthy and recovering, but being able to afford life-saving treatments,” said Congressman Garcia. “Circle of Hope is an incredible organization that works to fill the gaps, and I am proud to support their mission, especially during these tough times.”

“Cancer did not stop when COVID hit. We’ve seen an increase in the need for financial assistance from many who would normally be able to afford their treatment, and we’ve also had many people reach out for additional emotional support because of the increased stress of COVID-19,” said Circle of Hope Executive Director Laura Kirchhoff. “The donations we are receiving now will help us continue to provide assistance to those fighting cancer in our community, and we are very appreciative of the Congressman’s support.”

Congressman Garcia’s Circle of Hope contribution follows his early October donation to the SCV Food Pantry, an organization that works to alleviate hunger in Santa Clarita by providing food to local seniors and working families. Since taking office in May, Garcia has contributed to a number of 25th district organizations, including non-profits supporting local veterans and law enforcement officers.

Garcia will continue to fulfill his commitment to donate the equivalent of 10% of his monthly salary to local charitable organizations as the district continues to contend with the coronavirus pandemic.
